Singer of the Day: Anjana Sowmya
Anjana Sowmya was born on 29th September in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, India, to Sri. Gopala Krishna and Smt. Sumathi. She spent her childhood in Kakinada, and then she moved to Hyderabad after her Studies. She has done B.Tech, MBA, Diploma in Carnatic Music and an All India Radio Gold Medalist.
Initial Steps into Music:
She received training in Classical Music from Sri. Kakaraparti Veerabhadrarao and Smt. Peddada Suryakumari in Kakinada. She also got trained in Light Music from Smt. Uma Rani in Kakinada. After shifting to Hyderabad, she continued her training in Light Music with Sri. Vadali Phaninarayana.
Career:
She performed in a classical music concert when she was in her 5th Standard. She entered Music Industry as a Playback Singer in 2006 while pursuing B.Tech. She sang “Mounamenduku” song for “Classmates” movie which was composed by the Great composer Sri. Koti. She bagged a lot of accolades for her voice with her first Song. She took a break after to complete her studies. After completion of MBA, she has been continuously working and recording songs with many music directors.
She has recorded about 150 film songs not only in Telugu but also in Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. She worked with music directors like Koti, Chakri, Anoop Rubens, Mickey j Meyer, Srikanth Deva, Vidyasagar, Thaman S, Raghu Kunche, S A Raj Kumar and much more. She has been performing all over the world (USA, Japan, Australia, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland and Belgium)and captivating audience with her charming personality, ability to connect to audience instantly and above all her musical ability.
She has won MAA TEA Award for “Maa Pasalapudi Kadhalu” a title song of a Tele Serial telecast on MAA TV. She has won “Aalapana” award as a Best Female Media Singer. She has won Super Singer 4 and Super Singer 7 (Reality Music Show on MAA TV) as the best singer and female singer respectively.
She wishes to take her musical talent much beyond and expand her horizon in other genres of music.
