He previously played with a lead part in several films like Pataas and Athanokkade, Hare Ram. Kalyan Ram began his profession as an actor with Toli Choopulone (2003) produced by Ramoji Rao. His next film was Abhimanyu (2004) produced by Ashwini Dutt. His spirits were not dampened by beginning his movie career with two failures. In 2005 he created his own banner, N.T.R. Arts, under the name of his celebrated grandfather NTR and produced Athanokkade introducing Surender Reddy as director. The crowd and the film industry startled alike with this picture. It was a runaway hit at the box office. His next film, Asadhyudu (2006), was a calamity. Lakshmi Kalyanam with Teja and his next enterprises Vijayadasami with Samudra failed to work. Nevertheless, Hare Ram under his own production established him as performer and was well received by critics and was a great success for him after “Athanokkade”. In Jayeebhava which was a flop he starred in 2009. In 2010 he starred in KalyanRam ‘Kathi’ which turned out from his banner as a typical picture. After an extended opening Om 3D made on his house banner ad, that has been touted as India’s first activity 3D movie released in late summer 2013.[5] Despite the hoopla the movie ended up as a failure at the box office. As a policeman within an action entertainer titled Pataas produced under his house banner which turned out to be a smash success with favorable reviews Kalyan Ram appeared. For the very first time he could be producing a film without him as the lead titled Kick 2, under his banner ad N.T.R. Arts. Surender Reddy stars Ravi Teja as a lead, and directs it. Kick 2 is considered as among the most awaited film of the year 2015 in Tollywood. Kalyan Ram is filming for Sher opposite celebrity Sonal Chauhan. Mallikarjun directs Sher and is produced by Vijayalakshmi Pictures banner.
